“If you don’t know the blues… there’s no point in picking up the guitar and playing rock and roll or any other form of popular music.” – Keith Richards
The Abbey Tavern in Kentish Town sings the blues with a brand new jam night, Stormy Sundays. The night opens its arms wide to the talented community of blues musicians and will become a meeting point for like-minded people to jam together. Come along, plug in and play, make new friends along the way.
From April 14th, Stormy Sundays will be held every Sunday from 6pm.
The night is the brainchild of local Kentish Town resident and musician Sam Linthorne, the trombone and harmonica player who recently spent two years honing his musical talents in Canada, making his mark on Vancouver’s vibrant music scene with his widely acclaimed night, ‘Blues Explosion’.
Sam explains “I love the blues and The Abbey is the ideal setting for this kind of night to really take off, with its love of live music and honky-tonk piano by the stage. Everyone has the blues in them and what better way for a musician to get it out of their system than to have a few beers and jam with mates. Players of all levels are welcome.”
The Abbey will be offering its usual selection of beers and food to help people along the way. The award winning Farmer Tom’s kitchen will be serving up their legendary Sunday roasts, highly recommended to kick off the proceedings (Top 10 roasts in London – The Independent).
“I think a guy who’s had just the right amount of booze can sing the blues a hell of a lot better than a guy who is stone sober.” – Charlie Rich
